It's All Downtown Hammond! Starry November Night is Friday night, November 21, from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm in Downtown Hammond! The Hammond Downtown Development District has a truly memorable and fun family night planned for everyone! The children are going to have a great time: Santa Claus will be here, and the kids can visit with him! Parents, bring your cameras and take a photo of your child on Santa’s lap. Snow is in the forecast! Two tons of snow will be available for the children to play in… there will also be face painting and other children’s activities. This year we have added a Horse and Carriage ride! This may be the year your children get their first Horse & Carriage ride. Kids under ten years of age ride free with a paying adult ($5). Stargazing is happening again, too! The Pontchartrain Astronomy Society will have a telescope set up at the Hammond Chamber of Commerce office so kids and adults can see some really great stars! Live Music! Two stages with live music provide the entertainment for the evening. We will have The Southeastern Lady Lions Pep Rally and The Battle of the Choirs on our South Cypress Street Stage, emceed by Bayou Wolfman and live broadcasts from Tangi 96.5. La Carreta will have a live improv comedy troupe, “Hold Up Swoled Up,” and a band (to be announced). Southeastern’s radio station, 90.9 KSLU will broadcast live and will offer for sale used record albums and compact The Wine Tasting Stroll features seventeen different wines! Purchase a wrist band for $20 and receive the commemorative wine tumbler and Wine Tasting Map. Some merchants are featuring local artists in their businesses, too. There will be a Coat and Toy Drive to benefit the United Way, and a Food Drive for the Tangi Food Pantry, organized by Surgeons Liner, Lewis & Tucker. The collection point will be near North Cypress Street at East Thomas St. Shopping, Dining, Entertainment, too! As always, you are invited to explore the many shops, boutiques, restaurants and businesses in the Downtown Development District. This event is sponsored by the Downtown Development District and Louisiana Main to Main. |
